Cost Centre

A Cost Center is a department within an organization that does not directly add to the profit but still costs the organization money to operate. Cost Centers only contribute to a company’s profitability indirectly, unlike a profit center, which contributes to profitability directly through it’s actions. This enables you to check the profitability of individual functional areas and provide decision – making data for management.

 

 

Working with Cost Centre in RealBooks

Creating of Cost Centre

STEP 1: Go to Masters ⇒ Accounts ⇒ Cost Centre ⇒ Create

STEP 2: Once you click on create, a screen named Create a Cost Centre” appears, as displayed below:

Give the appropriate details in the fields provided:

Cost Centre : The name of the Cost Centre.

Cost Category : Select the cost category under which the cost centre is being created.

Visible : Keep it on to use the cost center in transactions.

STEP 3: Once the above details are feeded, click on save to create the cost centre.

Viewing of Cost Centre

STEP 1: Go to Masters ⇒ Accounts ⇒ Cost Centre ⇒ View

STEP 2: Once you click on view, a screen named “Cost Centre List appears, as displayed below:

STEP 3: To search a name, minimum 3 characters are to be provided in the search box. Type all in “search cost centre” box and click enter or the search icon to view the complete list of cost centre.

STEP 4: Alternatively, you can view individual cost centre also, in the same manner.

STEP 5: Quick search can also be done from the highlighted fields.

Editing of Cost Centre

STEP 1: Go to Masters ⇒ Accounts ⇒ Cost Centre ⇒ Edit

STEP 2: Once you click on edit, a screen named “Cost Centre List appears, as displayed below:

STEP 3: To search a name, minimum 3 characters has to be provided in the search box. Type “all” in “search cost centre” box ⇒ Click enter or the search icon to view the same.

 

 

STEP 4: Click on the pencil icon provided at the right end corner to edit the cost centre.

STEP 5: Quick search can also be done from the highlighted fields.

Deleting of Cost Centre

STEP 1: Go to Masters ⇒ Accounts ⇒ Cost Centre ⇒ Delete

STEP 2: Once you click on delete, a screen named “Cost Centre List appears, as displayed below:

STEP 3: To search a name, minimum 3 characters has to be provided in the search box. Type all” in “search cost centre” box and click enter or the search icon to view the same.

STEP 4: Click on the cross icon provided at the right end corner to delete the cost centre.
