Master Configuration

Process 1: Activate GST in RealBooks

Process 2: Set Up Business Place

Process 3: Create Tax Ledgers

Process 4: Record GSTIN in Party Ledger Master

Process 5: Record SAC Code / HSN

Process 6: Link Tax Ledgers with SAC / HSN

Process 1: Activate GST

Step 1Go to Settings and Click on Configuration

Step 2Go to Compliances in Configuration via Settings

Step 3. Click on Enable GST

Step 4. Click on Configure Compliance Settings to save


Process 2: Set up Business place

Step 1: Click on Set up Business Place in Command Centre 

Step 2: Fill in your GSTIN & State

Step 3: Click on Configure GST to save


Process 3: Create tax ledgers

Step 1: Click on Set up Tax Ledgers in GST Command Centre 

Step 2: Configure Rate, Type of Charge and Nature of Supply.

  1. Select the Rate – eg 18%
  2. Select “Normal Charge” from Charge Type dropdown
  3. Select Output & Input from Nature dropdown

Step 3. Click on Configure Auto GST to save

*** Please repeat the process for GST Tax Ledgers for additional rates and reverse charge

*** The tax ledgers can be set up manually as well

View the Six Ledgers that got created automatically.

  • Three Ledgers for Input GST @ 18% & 9% with Tax Flag
  • Three Ledgers for Output GST @18% & 9% with Tax Flag

*** Icons appear in Tax App (tax applied) column where corresponding ledgers have been configured as a Tax Ledger

Process 4: GSTIN in Party master

Step 1Click on Add Party Details checkbox

Step 2.1Select the Registration type

Step 2.2: Fill in the GSTIN

Step 2.3: Select the State – for registered party the State comes automatically

Step 3: Save the ledger master


Process 5.1: SAC Code

Step 1: Create / Edit a Ledger

Step 2: Put in the SAC code in the field which will get printed on the Tax Invoice.

Step 3: Save the ledger master.

Process 5.2: HSN Code

Step 1: Create / Edit an Item Master

Step 2: Put in the HSN code in the field which will get printed on the Tax Invoice.

Step 3: Save the item master.

Process 6.1: Link Tax Ledger to Income

Step 1: Create / Edit an Income Ledger Master

Step 2: Go to the Tax Configuration tab

Step 3: Select the Tax Nature – Exempt, Non-GST, Nil Rated, Taxable, Taxable under RCM

Step 4: Select the Tax Group – Inter State Input / Output

Step 5: If Nature is Taxable, then different Tax Types will get displayed.

Step 6: Select the appropriate Tax Ledgers.

Step 7: Save the item master.

Process 6.2: Link Tax Ledger to Item

Step 1: CreateEdit an Item Master – Go to the Tax Configuration tab

Step 2: Select the Tax Group – Inter State Input / Output. All different tax types will get displayed

Step 3: Put in the Rate, and click Go – only the created tax ledgers will appear.

Step 3: Save the item master.

Now you are ready to create your first GST compliant Tax Invoice.
